Central Symbol: The Monolith

RELiK’s mascot or central symbolic figure is a monolith: a large black slab in the lineage of the 2001: A Space Odyssey monolith.

It should not be treated as a literal copy, but the archetype matters:

• Large but not inflated
• Present but not hyperbolic
• Futuristic and ancient
• Familiar and alien
• Quietly powerful
• A representation of the unknown held inside a recognizable form

This symbol is extremely important and should receive deeper treatment later. It may explain much of the lab’s visual and experiential grammar.
