RG40XXV HERMS UI Handoff - 2026-05-08

Goal

Make HERMS usable from the RG40XXV PortMaster menu, with priority on the portrait/eikon animations and controller-first input. The current SSH/SDL path can launch, but the user reports that it stops at the HERM ASCII splash, the splash text overlaps version/status text, the desired portrait animation is missing, keyboard operation is unclear, connection startup is slow, and idle sessions time out after a few minutes.
